A drop in enrollment of 1000 students will translate into the loss of about $5000 for each displaced
student -- a total loss to the school district of about $5 million in funding. There was consideration of
laying off the most recently hired teachers to help offset the loss in funding, but it was later decided to
keep the new teachers and move them around to help ameliorate the situation.
